Update on Medical Centre Poll - Public Inquiry

This weekend is the last chance to register your vote on the Medical Centre poll, if you have not yet done so.
The latest results are: – On the question to remove the designation for medical use, 67.3 % voted to retain the designation, 30.9% to remove the designation and 1.8% had no preference.
Asked if resident would move to a new medical centre on Paxcroft Mead, 71.7% would and 28.3% would not.

The Public Inquiry will be held at 10.00am on Tuesday next, 23rd March, at the Bradley Road Council Offices.

The terms of the Inquiry are very narrow, concerned only with the legalities of the council's position, and since the council is not offering any defence, it seems most probable that the appeal will be upheld and the pub will go forward.

The Forum committee has decided that we should make a representation to the Public Inquiry, although it is unlikely that we would be able to affect the Inspector's decision. What we can do is to make a good case for the need for a new doctor's surgery on this side of town and ask if the Inspector could put pressure on the council to follow through on its planning and policy decisions by identifying an alternative, more suitable plot in the vicinity of Hackett Place, so that the potential for a medical centre on Paxcroft Mead is not lost.

If you are able to attend the Inquiry, we would be grateful for your support, though we have been advised that it would be best to discourage any further speakers.

The poll is now closed and thank you to everyone who took the trouble to respond to the poll.  You can check the final results of the poll by clicking here
