Paxcroft Mead News
Starting on Monday June 6th, Faresaver are diverting their X34 service into Leapgate. This will provide Clarendon College children with a service that will get them to school on time.
The bus will leave the turning circle at the bottom of Leapgate at 08:00, arriving at the Frome Road bus stop near the College entrance at 08:25. The route goes via Horse Road and the Town Centre.
The fare is £1.00 - the Faresaver “Kid for a Quid” scheme applies.
Faresaver is a commercial carrier, so if this re-routing is not financially viable they may reconsider, so it is a case of use or lose it.
After a very successful launch of Theatre Sense at the Community Centre on 9th May, the Musical Theatre clases are set to continue on a regular basis.
Trowbridge Trojans - getting women back into sport
Don't forget that you can still join Trowbridge Trojans netball team for a taster session on Saturday 11th June (see the poster below).
They are now looking for new players and are trying to encourage local ladies to get back into sport and become active.
This success has led us to participate in Wiltshire Council's W♡W Fit Week that was launched in mid-May, by offering a free two hour netball session with our level 2 qualified coach.
Full details of the session are shown in the poster below.
The recently formed Trowbridge Neighbourhood Police Team under the management of Sergeant Malcolm McLundie seems to be working quite well.
Those responsible for the post box damage which occured a while ago have been sentenced after a successful investigation by our Trowbridge Rural Community Beat manager, Mark Hough.
Mark's latest report for the Rural beat area states there have been 39 crimes, with 20 in Hilperton. Of those only 3 were in Paxcroft Mead.
I'm sure that you will already be aware of the rape allegation made by a young girl following the event at the Community Centre on the 1st May. I can't say too much about this, suffice to say that I don't believe that we have a sexual predator about.
There was a threat to kill at an address in Newhurst Park but the lady had serious issues and is getting the help she needs.
There was a suspicious incident at the school where a male spoke to children. I will follow this up when the schools go back.
We have also seen increases in minor ASB in the area (nothing like the previous year's issues) so in anticipation of the summer holidays, I have made it a patrol priority.
Current Priorities
According to the Wiltshire Police website, the current priorities in the Trowbridge NPT areas have not changed from last month's, but do not highlight anything directly involved with Paxcroft Mead. The current priorities close to us are:–
SPEEDING - VILLAGES (Rural Area)
The rural beat team receives more complaints about speeding vehicles than they do about any other matter. All the local villages have raised concerns about roads in their area and asked for Police to increase both patrols and enforcement. The locations close to Paxcroft Mead are Marsh Road and Devizes Road. To help tackle this, random speed checks are being carried out.
